New AI Feature Announcements

This is where we’ll share new AI features we’re rolling out.

AI-Enabled Data Collection

One of the first ways we’re using AI in AkitaBox is to speed up data collection and input while ensuring greater accuracy. The time it takes to create new asset pins and type in asset data like manufacturer info and serial numbers can really add up.

Our AkitaBox Capture mobile app identifies and enters asset data into the system using AI.

All you have to do is:

  • Take a photo of an asset’s nameplate.
  • Place the asset pin that AI creates onto the floor plan.
  • Ta-da! You’re done!

How Does It Work?

You just saw how simple and speedy AI-enabled Capture is. Now here’s what’s going on in the background:

  • Capture “reads” the information on the nameplate using Optical Character Recognition. But it doesn’t stop there.
  • Next, AI uses that information to determine what type of asset it is (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.). It creates a draft pin using the correct pin type.
  • Then, AI pulls in the manufacturer info, model number, serial number, etc. from the nameplate and places them in the correct data fields for that asset pin.
  • It even attaches your photo of the nameplate.

But Wait, There's More!

AkitaBox Capture also has voice functionality. The voice-to-text feature means you can add or change text in any data field by talking instead of typing. Soon, you’ll also be able to use voice commands to assist in creating and placing asset pins.

And that’s not all. In the near future, Capture will find asset data not included on the manufacturer label and add that missing information to the asset pin. We’ll post an official announcement right here on this page when it becomes available.

While this is all very exciting, AI-enabled data collection is just the tip of the iceberg. Many more exciting AI features are in the works!

The Bigger Picture: AkitaBot - Your AI Assistant

AkitaBot is our umbrella term for all of the upcoming AI and assistive capabilities we’ll be rolling out in AkitaBox. Basically, AkitaBot = AkitaBox’s AI functionality.

AkitaBot is your constant companion and assistant within AkitaBox, ready to answer questions, make suggestions, find information, and much more. Think of it like your good friend who knows everything that you always text when you have a question.

AI-enhanced data collection is the first major component of AkitaBot. But it’s nowhere near the last. We’re busy incorporating AI into other aspects of our software to help with actions such as:

  • Cost estimating
  • Data extraction and analysis
  • Setting schedules and reminders
  • Preventive maintenance plans
  • And much more
